How do you install DOT reflective tape?

First of all – don’t do it. Do not install it directly on top of the new paint. The release of new paint fumes will affect the bonding quality of the new reflective tape and it may all come off within a day or two. Your new paint must be fully cured for at least 2 days. Another very important aspect – always apply even pressure over the entire length of the reflective tape. This is best done with a plastic squeegee or a small rubber roller.
