Product Description Of DOT Conspicuity Tape

Reflective tape (also known as conspicuity tape or retroreflective tape) is a requirement for tractor-trailers. Made from reflective prism sheets and pressure-sensitive adhesives, this tape is designed to make heavy trailers more visible to other drivers. Not only is the reflective tape brighter than standard reflective tape, but it is also visible at sharper angles.

While reflective safety tape is designed for the trucking industry, they are also great for tractors and other agricultural equipment, ATVs, campers and RVs, water buoys, personal boats, mailboxes, bins …… anything that requires enhanced visibility.

The FMCSA regulations require the use of reflective DOT C2 conspicuity tapes as reflective tapes for vehicles, as well as for various other applications. DOT Conspicuity Tape Application

DOT Conspicuity Tape Regulations: On December 10, 1992, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a final rule requiring that trailers manufactured on or after December 1, 1993, which have an overall width of 2,032 mm (80 inches) or more and a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 4,536 kg (10,000 pounds), except pole trailers and trailers designed exclusively for living or office use, be equipped on the sides and rear with a means for making them more visible on the road.
